BCRC Receives $99,640.95 Grant From The Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Resource of Texas

May, 2013

The Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas (BCRC) are pleased to announce receipt of a $99,640.95 grant from the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. This funding allows BCRC Certified Patient Navigators to help uninsured and underinsured individuals overcome medical, legal, financial, and logistical barriers to accessing breast health services and to facilitate connections to appropriate resources to produce better health outcomes. This funding also supports BCRC’s bilingual patient navigators as they help to break down language barriers between clients, who only speak Spanish, and their physicians.

For the first time, Komen Austin is funding BCRC to provide free screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies to women and men without health insurance. If individuals do not have a medical home prior to seeking these services, BCRC Certified Patient Navigators will provide resources to help clients identify and establish a primary physician.
