Thanks to a $150,000 contribution to Texas State Technical College (TSTC) from former TSTC Regent and Chairman, Dr. Rolf Haberecht and his wife, Ute, many students will be helped in achieving success through education and training. Dr. and Mrs. Haberecht have pledged $75,000 to fund scholarships for approximately 15 students as they obtain certificates and associate’s degrees in allied health areas leading to careers such as Biomedical Equipment Technician, Surgical Technician, LVN, ADN and Medical Assistant.

Dr. Haberecht stated that these scholarships are, “for students to be trained by TSTC specifically for medical technician jobs supporting the development of the UT Regional Academic Health Science Center in Harlingen into a full 4-year medical school.” In addition, Dr. and Mrs. Haberecht have pledged another $75,000 to TSTC to further the education of disabled veterans.

In announcing this gift, Dr. Haberecht stated “it is my belief that TSTC, with its management, is on the right track and one can see it and can always remember the bright shining eyes of the TSTC students proudly holding their certificates after graduation, reflecting a life accomplishment.”

Dr. Maldonado, President of TSTC Harlingen, recognized Dr. and Mrs. Haberecht by stating, “We very much appreciate the contribution that they have made. As the founder of world-class bio-technology companies, Dr. Haberecht understands the value of education. His personal and professional dedication to improving lives is an inspiration to all of us. ”
