Red and Charline McCombs accept national philanthropy award
Council of Independent Colleges (CIC)

January, 2011

Red and Charline McCombs, namesakes for The University of Texas' McCombs School of Business, were honored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) for their education-focused philanthropy.

CIC presented the McCombs with the 2011 Award for Philanthropy during its annual Presidents Institute Awards Banquet in California on Thursday.

The award recognized the family's significant contributions and service to independent colleges and universities.

The McCombs Foundation gives more than 300 grants a year and has granted $200 million in the past 10 years — much of it in education.
