John Johnston, the new Coates-Cowden-Brown Curator of Asian Art, spent almost three years in Bhutan locating and researching Buddhist art for the exhibition "The Dragon's Gift: The Sacred Arts of Bhutan". He visited over two hundred temples and monasteries searching for outstanding works of sacred art to include in the exhibition. This fully illustrated lecture will be John's first opportunity to share these stories with an audience in San Antonio.

Children's art activities, a scavenger hunt through the galleries, music and food will be available throughout the day in celebration of the opening of the Museum Reach Riverwalk extension.

David S. Rubin, The Brown Foundation Curator of Contemporary Art, will explore the methods, concepts, and materials used in the making of the twelve site-specific art installations commissioned by the San Antonio River Foundation for the Museum Reach. The panel will feature Stuart Allen, Rolando Briseño, Carlos Cortés, Bill Fontana, Donald Lipski, Martin Richman, Mark Schlesinger and George Schroeder. This program is co-presented by SAMA and the San Antonio River Foundation.
