The Bob Edge Scholarship Fund at Communities Foundation of Texas has awarded its first scholarships its first scholarships

The Bob Edge Scholarship Fund at Communities Foundation of Texas has
awarded its first scholarships to four area commercial real estate professionals to pursue professional certification in commercial real estate.

The scholarships, awarded on the basis of professional achievement, community involvement and leadership potential, range from $500 to $2,000 and may be used for tuition or registration fees for classes to achieve rofessional designations such as CCIM, SIOR, MAI, CPM or LED, or to fulfill other real estate industry requirements or degrees.

Recipients of the inaugural scholarships, and the professional designations they are pursuing, are:
■ Irma LeCroy, Re/Max Commercial, Rockwall (CCIM and SIOR)
■ Matthew K. Marshall, Landbridge Commercial Properties, Tyler (CCIM)
■ Graham Merriman,Wilcox Development, Dallas (CCIM)
■ Tyler Sorenson, Transwestern Retail, Dallas (CCIM)

The Bob Edge Scholarship Fund at CFT promotes the profession and helps deserving professionals further their areers. The fund honors Robert T. “Bob” Edge, a vice chairman of Cushman &Wakefield of Texas, Inc. and one of the most active brokerage professionals in the country. In 1974, he opened Cushman &Wakefield’s
Dallas office and has handled numerous corporate headquarters relocations including those for American irlines, Caltex Petroleum, Occidental Chemical and Celanese Chemical.

In 2001, Mr. Edge was inducted into the Dallas Real Estate Hall of Fame. He received the Stemmons Service ward, the highest honor in Dallas real estate, for demonstrating exceptional professional and ethical conduct, as well as his active involvement in the community. Mr. Edge serves as a mentor to many young real estate rofessionals, at Cushman &Wakefield and at other local firms.

Mr. Edge is a graduate of Texas A&M University and Southern Methodist University School of Law. He is a former chairman of the Youth Crime Commission and served on the executive committee of the Greater Dallas Crime Commission and on the boards of Jesuit College Preparatory School and the Metropolitan Dallas YMCA.
Mr. Edge is active in various industry organizations including the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors.
