Lawndale Art Center is proud to present SPEAKEASY, a new program initiative that launched in Spring 2016. Our fourth event in the series will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7 PM featuring a performance by Lawndale Artist Studio Program participant Randi Long. Doors open at 6:30 PM and admission is free.

Randi Long
Randi Long is currently an Artist Studio Participant at Lawndale with work currently on view in the 2017 Artist Studio Program exhibition entitled Temporary HavensLong has collaborated with Gabriel Martinez and James Racliffe for their project Noise Truck, which received an Idea Fund Award in 2016 and 1st Place, Grand Trophy for Best Music, at the Orange Show's 2016 Art Car Parade. Long has performed in projects with Nameless Sounds at AvantGarten, DiverseWorks, and MECA. She received her BFA in Sculpture from the University of Houston.

SPEAKEASY is a new program initiative that re-envisions Lawndale's "Speakeasy" series that took place from 1992-2002. This series casts a reflexive eye on Lawndale's historical relationship to live music and performance, as well as the exploration of issues in contemporary art.
Lawndale Art Center is an alternative art space founded in 1979. For over 36 years, Lawndale has dedicated itself to the support of contemporary art with a particular focus on the work of Houston and Texas-based artists. 
Lawndale is located at 4912 Main Street. Free parking is available at the corner of Travis and Rosedale, near the main entrance. Admission is free. 
Monday & Tuesday: CLOSED; tours available by appointment
Wednesday: 12-6 PM
Thursday: 12-8 PM
Friday: 12-6 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 12-5 PM
