Christian Senior Services

July, 2016

After a successful 30-year career in nonprofit management, Christian Senior Services’ (CSS) CEO, Sharon Baughman, is retiring this September. Baughman joined CSS in 2001, and is currently a member of the Bexar Senior Advisory Committee and Past President of the Meals on Wheels Association of Texas.

Christian Senior Services’ programs include Meals on Wheels of Texas, Grace Place Alzheimer’s Center and Companionship Services.

During Baughman’s 15-year tenure all of the programs expanded to meet the growing needs of San Antonio and Bexar County’s senior population.

·         Meals on Wheels of San Antonio almost doubled daily meal deliveries to 3,800

·         Grace Place Alzheimer’s Center opened a third location in Northeast San Antonio

·         Companionship Services added Elder Friends as a new volunteer opportunity

“Leading this organization through a time of transformative growth was exciting and something I will forever treasure,” Baughman said. “It’s been an honor to serve the community in this capacity and I look forward to continuing work as a volunteer.”

After a comprehensive search for a new CEO by the Board of Director’s Succession Committee, President Daniel Ortiz is pleased to announce Christian Senior Services’ new CEO.

“There were many extremely qualified candidates, and we are thrilled that to have found Vinsen Faris,” said Ortiz. “He is an individual with the breadth of experience and commitment to lead this organization into an exciting future!”

The Immediate Past Board Chair of Meals on Wheels America, Faris comes to CSS from Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties where he’s served as the Executive Director since 1988. Faris is recognized locally, statewide and nationally as an advocate for senior issues, especially senior hunger.  He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington School of Urban and Public Affairs.

“I’m grateful to the board for the opportunity to continue delivering the mission of promoting dignity and independence to seniors in San Antonio and Bexar County,” said Faris. “As the senior population grows we will continue to be at the forefront of nonprofit partners enabling seniors to live in their homes in the communities they’ve built and love.”

Christian Senior Services’ mission is to promote the dignity and independence of seniors who are in need of nutritious meals, companionship, and Alzheimer’s care.
