Join us for lunch … and learn about "Working Effectively with your Board of Directors" from our President and CEO, Dennis Noll.

Dennis has seen boards from all sides.  He has worked closely with boards in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors as well as served on boards of more than a dozen charities and two private foundations.

FREE quarterly Lunch-and-Learns are just one of several great benefits reserved for members of the San Antonio Area Foundation.  However, in the month of August we are opening this opportunity to anyone in the nonprofit community.  Please join us as Dennis leads an engaging session on how to involve your Board in your work and leverage your capacity to fulfill your mission.

Grant Application Deadline Coming Soon!

The next deadline to submit a Strengthening Nonprofits (SNP) Phase II Grant application to the San Antonio Area Foundation is September 15, 2014. 

We will hold community meetings to share information about the Strengthening Nonprofit Grant opportunity with local nonprofits on:

Session I - August 6: 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm
Session II – August 7: 9:30 am – 10:45 am
Session III – August 7: 2:00 pm – 3:15 pm

In these meetings we will discuss:

  • Two-phase application process  
  • Grant Review process and Scoring Matrix
  • How to Take the Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT)
  • Facilitating the CCAT Discussion

While these are not required meetings, we encourage CEOs or another agency representative to attend.  Meetings will be held at the San Antonio Area Foundation office, 303 Pearl Parkway, Suite #114.  Free parking is available.

Calling all organizations that serve the military community!

The San Antonio Area Foundation and St. Mary’s University are offering a program designed to strengthen the capacity of organizations that serve the military community.  The Nonprofit Management Certificate for Veterans’ Service Organizations is a 10-month series of educational and convening sessions with goals to:

  • Create effective and sustainable nonprofit Veterans’ service organizations;
  • Assist in bridging partnerships and collaborations among Veterans’ service organizations;  
  • Ensure that participating organizations are better equipped to maximize their impact on the Veterans’ community.
