Client Spotlight
PM Client
  Meet Mr. Wilford Nieves;
a 77 year old veteran and widow. He was married to his wife Migdalia for 35 years and now lives in a senior community.
Mr. Nieves was in need of medical equipment for his new place. After hearing about Project MEND from several residents, he gave us a call.
Because of the community support Project MEND received, we helped Mr. Nieves with a 4-wheel walker and electric hospital bed.
In his words "Project MEND is the best thing that has happen to a veteran. I expected the VA to assist me, so I never thought about other programs. I couldn't be happier with the Project MEND."
Thank You for helping Project MEND continue to assist clients like Mr. Nieves.

News and Notes
Fall WaterGreetings!

September is one of my favorite months...the start of school, college football returns, autumn around the corner, and the holidays on the horizon. I think this time of year allows us time to take a deep breath, take stock in the things around us and reprioritize for the coming year.

Thank you for including Project MEND as a resource for clients, staff, volunteers, friends and family. I hope you consider including us in your priority list this season. Fall is the perfect season to give generously of your time and talents to others and this month's newsletter is filled with opportunities to get involved.
So, try your luck with a raffle ticket, volunteer at the warehouse, or run with us in the 5k, I promise your generosity will motivate you to achieve more.
It is a passion for service and a desire to help others that motivates us everyday and it is because of your support that we are able to continue serving those in need. Thank You!

Síclovía - Play in the Street
What is Síclovía?

Síclovía is a free event that turns major city streets in to a safe place for people to exercise and play. The streets become temporarily car-free for about 6 hours on Sundays for families to run, ride bikes, take exercise classes and enjoy their city streets.

The modern day Ciclovía originated in Bogotá, Colombia 30 years ago. Bogotá began their program with 8 miles of open streets. Ciclovía was so popular, today, they open over 70 miles of car-free streets to their citizens and connect city parks to provide green spaces for Reclovías.

On Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 10am-3pm, Síclovía will turn San Antonio's streets into a safe, fun place for walking, bicycling, jogging and enjoying outdoor activities. By making a stretch of Broadway temporarily car-free, Síclovía opens the road to people. During the event the streets will belong to pedestrians, bicyclists, and recreationalists.
