The Winston School of San Antonio

July, 2013

For the past year, the Office of Advancement at The Winston School San Antonio has been planning a student art gallery as an endowment revenue stream.  Today, a sample of 16 notecards can be viewed at

WSSA has a long-standing reputation of highly creative students who easily think out of the box.  Under the tutelage of Mrs. Jill Ewing, her art students’ collage received a public spotlight at the McNay Art Museum.  Mr. Richard Rodriguez, digital media teacher, inspired one sophomore to win 3rd place in a City wide video competition and another video student was interviewed recently on WOAI-TV.  People frequently comment that WSSA student creations are professional quality.  These and more examples are the stimuli for the new gallery.

August 1 is the grand opening of the “W Gallery.” Starting on that date, anyone in the lower continental U.S. can purchase student designed notecards on line.  Michelle Mayer, W Gallery curator says, “Our student art quality is high and thanks to a generous printing donation from Norton Lewis, our grand opening prices are low.  The W Gallery will open with this one product and expand to others over time.  On October 1, our holiday line will be unveiled.  As demand increases, we can add posters or other products.  There is no limit to the creativity of WSSA students.”

Headmaster Charles J. Karulak adds, “Proceeds from the sale of these notecards will help grow our school’s endowment over time.  When the public sees what we see every day, they will realize our students have the creative talents that cities and corporations desperately are seeking.  We are very pleased that our students are donating their art to help their school.”
