Abilene Philharmonic Association

June, 2013

The Abilene Philharmonic Association recently selected a new Executive Director after a 5 month long, arduous selection process of nearly 30 applicants from several states.  Ms. Catherine Lansdowne of Bethesda, Maryland - former Director of Marketing and Communication for the National Philharmonic Orchestra and, most recently, Writer and Editor for the Central Fundraising Department of the Smithsonian Museum - will fill this critical position beginning, 1 July 2013.

Ms. Lansdowne will replace Heidi Kelley.  Ms. Kelley resigned in mid-December 2012 to accept a similar position with the Binghamton Philharmonic in Binghamton, NY.

Several years ago, Ms. Lansdowne resided in Odessa, TX and on occasion played in our orchestra under the direction of Shinik Hahm.  She currently has relatives living in the Houston area and is anxious to become an integral part of the Abilene community.

Led by Music Director and Conductor David Itkin, the Philharmonic is the only professional orchestra within 80 miles of Abilene and draws audiences from more than 50 Texas cities.
