NEWS FROM TEXAS STATE: Construction program receives accreditation
Texas State University

April, 2013

The Construction Science and Management Program at Texas State University has received accreditation from the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

The accreditation was announced recently by the council’s Board of Trustees. The board cited Texas State’s program for maintaining the stringent standards of the ACCE and noted that the program has “a bright future.”

In receiving accreditation, Texas State’s construction program becomes the third of 11 programs in Texas and 70 nationally to earn the distinction.

The Construction Science and Management program began at Texas State in 1984. It has grown to 220 majors with six fulltime faculty members.

Its mission is to produce highly educated and motivated professionals for the construction industry. Students in the program earn a bachelor of science degree in construction science and management, which includes a business minor and an industrial internship served during the student’s junior or senior year.

The ACCE was established in 1974 to be a global advocate of quality construction education and to promote, support and accredit quality construction education programs around the world.

It is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the accrediting agency for four-year baccalaureate degree programs in construction, construction science, construction management and construction technology.
