 Together, let's make this legislative session count for children!

Decisions made at the state Capitol affect kids' lives every day—from what they can eat, to whether they can see a doctor, to whether they can get a good start on learning and life.
As a new Texas legislature convenes for the first time today, Texans who care for children and our state's future stand ready to be kids' voice.
The Texas legislature meets only for 140 days every other year. This is an important window for making a difference for children and our state. Here's how we can work together in these crucial months and weeks to secure wins for Texas children:

Get tips from our online Advocacy Center
. Subscribe to our blog for weekly "how to" ideas in the days ahead. Or download one of our special new toolkits to help you be your best activist self.
2. Stay posted.

During the 83rd legislative session, we let you know what's happening, who needs to hear from you, and when and how to raise your voice. Our Action Alerts and notices from our issue-focused networks are key. Make sure you're hearing from us in the way that works for you:
  • Click on the "manage" link at the bottom of this email to be sure you're on our Action Alert list and any other lists you want to hear from.
    Tip: If you're concerned about email volume, you can use the same trick to select out of a list at any time.

  • Join us on Facebook and Twitter, where we update Texans who care.

The Children's Policy Conference is more than just a chance to learn and network. It's also a time to go to the Capitol and meet with your representatives. Register now (before standard registration ends Jan. 14), and we'll send you information about setting up Capitol meetings and making them effective on February 6th.
