We have had an exciting year offering innovative and thought-provoking exhibitions, along with a diverse range of programs and performances. The remainder of the season is equally as exhilarating. Houston Modern Home Tour

The 2013 Houston Modern Home tour is a self-guided driving tour of Houston's coolest modern architecture, designed by some of the Bayou City's greatest architects. Tour-goers can explore the inside and outside of 6 to 10 area homes that are sure to wow even the most casual observer.

2013 Texas Biennial Open Call for Art 

Deadline: February 28, 2013


The Texas Biennial is pleased to announce that the 2013 Open Call for Art has begun. The Biennial is open to all artists living and working in Texas. Submissions for TX★13 will be accepted online at now through February 28, 2013.


The Texas Biennial will take place September 5 - November 9, 2013 with a range of exhibitions and other programming in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Marfa. The curated open call survey exhibition that is the central feature of the project will be presented at Blue Star Contemporary Art Center in San Antonio, with selected performances during the run of the exhibition at CentralTrak-The Artist Residency of the University of Texas at Dallas. A special commissioned Biennial artist project will be presented by Ballroom Marfa. In celebration of the Biennial's 5th anniversary, Lawndale Art Center in Houston and Big Medium in Austin will also host exhibitions of current work by selected past Biennial artists, August 23 - September 28, 2013. Additional programming will be announced as details become available.

Design Fair 2013 features vintage modern objects of the 20th century as well examples of cutting-edge contemporary design. A wide selection of carefully curated items will be available for purchase as part of the Design Fair, including furniture, glass, ceramics, lighting, books, metalwork and fashion. Visitors to the Fair will be able to meet the designers and exhibitors for an up-close and personal look at the pace-setting designs of today and the mid-20th century.
