Heart Gallery News

The Heart Gallery of Central Texas Unveiling and Volunteer Supporter event on September 20th was a huge success.  Over 200 volunteers and supporters attended the event and we unveiled dozens of new photographs.  We are always adding new portraits to the website, so be sure to check the website frequently and let us know if you’d like additional information about any of the children.

We are also excited that the Townlake YMCA will be featuring a Heart Gallery display starting next week and will run for the next 6 months.  So if you are a member of the YMCA, please make sure to stop by and see the photographs.

ACT is once again planning for its Secret Santa Gift Program, a special holiday gift program helping Child Protective Services and foster families provide gifts and spread holiday cheer to hundreds of Central Texas foster children through the generosity of community donors.

If you would like to be a Secret Santa this year and purchase holiday gifts for a Central Texas foster child, please email your name, email address and contact phone number to The gift drop-off days will be at several Austin-area locations on Wednesday through Saturday, December 5 – 8, and caseworkers will be picking up the gifts the following week. Forever Families – Watch the Latest Segments

Forever Families child profile segments air on Time Warner Cable’s YNN channel every Sunday. We strive to make each filming experience fun and special for every child we highlight. We do an activity in which the child has expressed an interest to give viewers a glimpse of the child’s personality.

We deeply appreciate the time, generosity, and kindness our hosts extend to the children each week. We’d like to thank the filming hosts recognized below and encourage you to watch the corresponding Forever Families segment by clicking on the child’s photo:

Child of the Month

Mark is a friendly, outgoing young man.  He enjoys helping others and believes that his kindness is what sets him apart from his peers.  The words that Mark believes describe him the best include: funny, shy, nice, athletic, helpful, sweet and mischievous. Some of his favorite hobbies include football, basketball, fishing, and playing Xbox.  Mark's foster parents describe him as a people pleaser.  He works hard to make sure he is meeting their expectations and gets along with others in the home. Mark is very open to any and all kinds of families.  He hopes that his family will be active, structured, and open to pets.  For more information, please contact Grace Lindgren, LMSW at the Adoption Coalition of Texas (512) 810-0813 or
