Skiin' with the Galilean (SWTG) is a Christian ministry designed to serve youth currently in foster care by providing them with: a safe, fun-filled day of water skiing, wakeboarding, boat rides and tubing; fun and games with a biblical message; lunch AND dinner. All at no cost to the foster children or their families! This is the first year SWTG is also being held in Athens, so please help us get the word out to families in that area about this wonderful opportunity.

The Adoption Coalition of Texas is pleased to announce the addition of The Settlement Home for Children and STARRY Foster Care to our group of non-profit child-placing agencies.  Coalition partners Arrow Child & Family Ministries, Lutheran Social Services, Pathways Youth and Family Services, and Child Protective Services welcome these new partners to our collaborative efforts of finding permanent, loving homes for Central Texas foster children awaiting adoption.

About the Settlement Home for Children

The mission of The Settlement Home for Children is to care for and promote the healing of troubled children and their families. They provide state-of-the-art programs and services for children entrusted in foster care. Their 10-acre campus is rich in history and provides a tranquil atmosphere for children to heal and grow. The driving force for the organization is the Settlement Club, a volunteer group of over 450 dedicated women whose mission is to provide a quality home for neglected and abused children. Established as the Girls' Settlement Club in 1916, The Settlement Home for Children is owned and operated by The Settlement Club. For more information, visit their website at

About STARRY Foster Care

STARRY’s mission is to support children, youth and parents in crisis through services that protect, educate and promote strong families. An Emergency Shelter provides a safe place for abused and neglected kids. The Foster Care Program places children in need of longer-term care with loving, Christian foster parents. STARRY Counseling services provide crisis intervention for nonresidential children and families struggling with adolescent and relational issues. After 30 years of service to children in Central Texas, Carolyn Chamberlain has retired. Carolyn served as Chair of the Adoption Coalition of Texas for almost two years. In 2004, Carolyn was one of the leading forces in creating the Coalition. She was a dedicated Board Member and Chair and will be greatly missed. Thank you, Carolyn, for your leadership and devotion to our organization and to the children and families you served.

We are pleased to announce Suzette Lamb, LPC, LCPAA, as the Coalitions new Board Chair.  Lamb currently serves as Clinical Director at Pathways Youth and Family Services, one of ACT’s partner agencies.  Suzette has served on the Board for more than five years and brings a wealth of experience to the Chair position.
