Last Chance! Learn about balancing justice and juvenile mental health at our North Texas Luncheon!
Children at Risk of North Texas

March, 2012

Join CHILDREN AT RISK in North Texas, along with its partners,
this Friday, March 16th for the
Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Policy Luncheon

1 in 5 children in the United States is affected by mental illness. In the juvenile justice system, that number rises to a staggering 50%. This problem is compounded by the fact that Texas ranks 49th in the country for mental health expenditures. On Friday, March 16th we invite you to attend our Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Policy Luncheon to learn how Dallas County is taking positive steps to make juvenile mental health issues a priority. Learn about the recently established Juvenile Mental Health Docket in Dallas County, the impact it has had on the community, the challenges it faces, its success and its projected outcomes.

Click on the link below to reserve your seat today!

Where: The Communities Foundation of Texas, 5500 Caruth Haven Lane, Dallas, TX, 75225
When: Friday, March 16th from 11:30am – 1:00pm
How: Register here!

Speakers include:
Judge Robert Herrera, Associate Judge of the Juvenile Mental Health Docket
Janie Metzinger, Public Policy Director, Mental Health America of Greater Dallas

Judge Robert Herrera has practiced trial law for over twenty-eight years and serves as an Associate Judge for the Juvenile District Courts in addition to the Truancy and Class C Enforcement Center, and the Mental Illness Court. Janie Metzinger monitors mental health policy issues at the federal, state and local levels and provides legislative updates and training for local advocates and works with other collaborative efforts in the community related to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
