Sometimes, we have the idea that if we believe in Jesus, then the Christian life will come easily and naturally. The Scripture teaches us otherwise. We are instructed to be Jesus' "disciple," a word whose very meaning points to discipline and practice.

January 22, Little Wild Animals Playdate, All Sunday School classes for 2 and 3 year old sand their families will gather will gather right after Sunday School, (10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.) Cost is $5 per person ($20 family maximum) and includes lunch. RSVP by January 19.  


January 29, Winter Playdate -All 4 year old and Kindergarten children and their families will gather right after Sunday School, (10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.) Join us on the playground for food, fun and fellowship! Cost is $5 per person ($20 family maximum). RSVP by January 26.

Beginning this month, Adult Ministries will kick
are kicking off a new ministry called LIFT teams (Living In Faith Together.) New teams of 4-12 people committed to practicing in life what's being preached on Sundays are forming now. Sign up online , or call Julia Fox at 713-402-5034.

St. Luke's MEN'S LIFE training teams encourage men in their transformation towards being successful leaders at home, work and in their communities. Men's Life, with Tom Pace, meets at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings in the Fellowship Hall. Register online or call 713-402-5139.

St. Luke's will accept: 

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Monetary donations (checks paid to St. Luke's with Souper Bowl on memo line)

All St. Luke's collections will be totaled and reported as part of the national goal and will go to Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) food pantries.

On February 5, The Christian Community Center truck will parked in the Courtyard Circle at the Westheimer Campus to accept donations and Boy Scouts around the campus will also accept contributions.
Gethsemane congregants may drop off items for Souper Bowl of caring in the SB box near the Sanctuary the next 3 Sundays.  


February 5, Commit for Life Blood Drive at the Westheimer Campus. Make your appointment at and enter our code 4301 or contact Alice at 713-402-5067. Walk-ins are also welcome from 8 a.m. -1 p.m. in the Activities Center.

January 23 and February 6, Community of Empowerment, St. Luke's new outreach initiative with gang affected, at-risk youth in the Gethsemane neighborhood will hold an introductory training/orientation session from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at the Gethsemane Campus. January 24, The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet in the Chapel Parlor from 1-2:30 p.m. Join us to knit, crochet, visit and pray together, as we create and bless shawls that will be given as a tangible symbol of God's love.

Jr. and Sr. high students will stay in groups at host homes, where they'll have meals and discussion times and then come together at St. Luke's for worship gatherings and recreation. Register online

The free workshop sponsored by the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center guides attendees toward financial peace via video lectures and small group discussions.
