In Honor of Our Troops
SNAP San Antonio Event Offers Free Spay-Neuter to Animals of Military Personnel

Animals of U.S. military personnel fixed FREE on Veteran's D

SNAP is holding a free spay-neuter day for the cats and dogs of all military personnel (active duty, reserve, and retired) on Veteran’s Day, which falls on Friday, November 11, 2011. Our troops are coming home from Iraq, so what better time to show them how much we appreciate their service and sacrifice? All that is required to qualify is a valid military ID. Both the San Antonio mobile clinic and the San Antonio Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness Clinic are participating. The former will be stationed at Valley Hi H-E-B near Lackland Air Force Base. The latter is located at 6758 Ingram Rd. (facing the 410 feeder in the Ingram Square shopping center). Full story.

SNAP Mobile Comes to Fort Bend, County
Clinic on Wheels Brings Free Spay-Neuter to Qualifying Low-Income Households

The SNAP Mobile Clinic is coming to Fort Bend County.

The SNAP mobile clinic, which provides free spay-neuter surgeries and rabies shots to animals living in qualifying low-income households, has begun monthly visits to Fort Bend County, Texas. The clinic will be stationed at various locales around the county to make it accessible to those who need the service most. The location for the upcoming month is listed on the Houston mobile clinic schedule. Qualifying requirements are the same as those for the Houston Mobile Clinic and can be found on that clinic’s web page. The clinic can accommodate 22-24 animals on a given day. These are selected via a lottery that is held on-site at 6:30 a.m. Full story.

SNAP Volunteers Rock Our World!
Volunteers Come Through at Bayou City Art Festival despite Bad Weather

SNAP volunteers at the fall 2011 Bayou City Art Festival.

There is no other way to put it. The fall Bayou City Art Festival was nearly washed away in a deluge on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011. Still, our volunteers showed up, waded through ankle deep water, and made it happen for SNAP. Attendance, of course, was severely reduced from normal levels due to the torrential (though much needed) rain that fell that day, but the great majority of you who signed up to work showed up and stuck out your shifts. Fortunately Saturday wasn’t quite so dreary. Full story.
