UTSA College of Business Offering New Minors in Digital Forensics and Network and Data Center Management
UTSA College of Business

September, 2011

(San Antonio)—Two new minors in digital forensics and network and data center management will be offered this fall at The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business.

Offered through the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management, the new minors will complement the department’s current degree programs in information systems, infrastructure assurance and the management of technology.

“Digital forensics is a fast-growing area in cybersecurity,” said Dr. Glenn Dietrich, chairman of the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management. “And, we’ve received requests from the technology community to expand our offerings to include coursework in network and data center management. Both fields are in high demand.”

As part of the digital forensics minor, students will learn how to discover data on storage media and recover data from wireless devices. Coursework includes digital forensics analysis and cyber law.

The network and data center management minor will provide the educational basis for becoming a data center manager or network administrator. The curriculum is divided into four major knowledge areas: networks and networking protocols; facilities such as electrical power and air conditioning; network security; and operations. Topics covered include cloud computing, physical and cybersecurity, access control, project management and disaster planning.

Nationally ranked and recognized, the UTSA College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation with 5,600 enrolled students.  The college is dedicated to raising its academic profile to become one of the best business schools recognized for developing “Knowledge for a New World.”  For more information, visit
