Ed Mehollin Chosen to Lead the Krause Children’s Center in Katy

Lutheran Social Services of the South, Inc. (LSS) announced today that Ed Mehollin, MA, MHA , has been named chief executive officer of the Krause Children’s Center, a nonprofit residential treatment facility in Katy, Texas. The Krause Center, operated by LSS treats children ages 11-17 who have severe emotional and behavioral problems as a result of past abuse and neglect.


Before joining the Krause staff, Mehollin worked for CHRISTUS Health in Corpus Christi, an acute inpatient psychiatric facility; Alabama Clinical Schools, a residential treatment center for male juvenile sex offenders in Birmingham; and in the acute psychiatric treatment program of Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, Alabama. Mehollin is a board member for Mental Health America in Texas.

Mehollin holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Akron, as well as a master’s in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. A native of Ohio, his 41-year career in the mental health field spans experience from accreditation and licensing surveys and

program turnaround efforts to directing residential and outpatient programs and facilities as large as 118 beds.


“As a lifelong advocate for mental health awareness and parity, my immediate plans for Krause revolve around enhancing our therapeutic programs,” Mehollin said. “By developing and working with the outstanding staff at Krause, I am confident we can achieve success in our treatment, educational and recreational programs.”


In addition to the Krause Children’s Center, LSS programs include three other children’s residential facilities in Texas, plus therapeutic foster care, adoption, adult day care, senior health care and retirement centers, and disaster response and emergency assistance. LSS serves more than 46,000 children, elderly, and poor in Texas and Louisiana annually.
