Caring for people, everyday.
Introducing Dennis...
   A veteran
   59 years old
   Recently retired
   He also has schizophrenia

Two years ago, Dennis (not real name) was paranoid and delusional. He was not taking his medicine and was abusing alcohol as a means to escape. When he was arrested for trespassing in 2009, he was found not competent to stand trial.

That is when he entered the OCR (Outpatient Competence Restoration) program at Metrocare. He and his caseworker met 3 times every week and made the goals of staying on his medication and getting sober. Dennis was also required to report to court weekly.

Today, Dennis has graduated from the OCR program and has remained faithful with his promise to stay sober. He has not acquired any new charges and continues to receive medical and psychiatric care at Metrocare (in compliance with the court orders).

We are proud of Dennis' great progress and the wonderful staff who encouraged him along the way.
