A Milestone Reached 

Happy 20th Anniversary to NAM’s Family Violence Center!
The FVC has been serving victims of domestic abuse since January 1991.


 We need your help! 

NAM Resale has an URGENT need for gently used furniture and housewares. Items may be dropped off at any of NAM Resale’s three locations:

Tues., Feb. 1- Mon., April 11 - AARP’s Tax Aide will be available on the first floor of NAM from February 1- April 11, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm. The service is provided on a walk-in basis; please bring all tax documents with you.


Sun., Feb. 6 – SuperStyle Sunday. C. Baron Photography is organizing a fund raiser for NAM’s Family Violence Center on Superbowl Sunday – February 6 from 11am- 4pm at the Grant Hair Salon,

in Cypress. “Super Style Sunday” will offer free makeovers, hair styling and mini facials, as well as jewelry and glamour portraits for sale. 25% of the portrait and jewelry sales will go to the Family Violence Center. Bring a new or gently used clothing item for NAM, and receive a coupon for future salon services. Sat., Feb. 19 - Interfaith Quilting Bee. Quilters of all levels are invited to attend the annual Interfaith Quilting Bee at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 16535 Kleinwood. Quilts will go to families in NAM’s Interfaith Hospitality Network, who are transitioning from homelessness to self-sufficiency. For more info, email


Sat., Feb. 19 – Crop Walk Packet Pickup. If you are planning to participate in this year’s Crop Walk, pick up your packets between 10am-12 noon at Immanuel United Church of Christ,

(in Old Town Spring).


Sun., Feb. 27 – Art for the Hungry. Sign up to collect 1,000 non-perishable food items and make them into a sculpture, to be displayed for two weeks at Willowbrook Mall. Mon., March 28- Sun., April 3 – Birdies for Charity.

Each year, the Shell Houston Open and the Houston Golf Association sponsor the Birdies for Charity program and NAM is one of the beneficiaries. To participate, simply pledge 1 cent or more per birdie, or make a flat donation of $20 or more. This will give you a chance to win a 2011 Toyota Camry. The car will be awarded to the person who comes closest to guessing the exact number of birdies made during the tournament.  Sun., April 3 – Crop Walk. 25% of funds raised at the walk benefit NAM, and the rest goes to international hunger relief. The 5K walk will begin at 1:30pm at The Woodlands Christian Church, 1202 N. Millbend. For more info, email


Thurs., April 7 – All current NAM volunteers are invited to attend the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at 12 noon. This year’s event will be held at a new location – Klein United Methodist Church. The theme is “Fiesta!” and Tex Mex cuisine will be served. An Evening with Jeannette Walls

Tues., May 3- An Evening with Jeannette Walls.   This year’s NAM Endowment Dinner will feature speaker Jeannette Walls, author of “The Glass Castle” and “Half Broke Horses.” Tickets start at $150.
