Boeing partners with Meals on Wheels to Help Feed Homebound Seniors in South San Antonio
Meals on Wheels - San Antonio

January, 2011

Boeing has partnered with Meals on Wheels to establish a meal delivery route in South San Antonio.  The partnership allows Boeing employees to deliver meals on behalf of the Meals on Wheels program.  Each weekday, participating employees will volunteer their lunch hour to deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors in the surrounding neighborhood.  The entire delivery process takes less than one hour and produces tangible rewards for volunteers.

For years, Meals on Wheels has been lobbying for partnerships in and around South and West San Antonio, as these areas are densely populated with recipients of the program.

“The Boeing partnership can’t come soon enough,” says CEO Sharon Baughman.  “Each year, the need for our services continues to grow in these neighborhoods and in order for us to meet demand, we need more volunteer participation.  We are very excited to have Boeing as a partner and we hope this will inspire other businesses to follow suit.”

“Our employees know the importance of giving back and improving the quality of life in our local community.  The many thanks they receive from the recipients make it worthwhile,” said Kevin Devine, Boeing San Antonio site leader. “We have generous and giving people who are more than happy to assist Meals on Wheels in addressing the demand for volunteers in South San Antonio.”

Boeing is the 17th corporate partner to begin a meal delivery route on behalf of the Meals on Wheels program.  Local businesses who are interested in partnering with the program, can contact Meals on Wheels at (210) 735 – 5115.

About Meals on Wheels of San Antonio

Meals on Wheel of San Antonio, a program of Christian Senior Services, prepares and delivers over 3,700 nutritious meals each weekday to homebound seniors living in Bexar County. With a registered dietitian on staff, our meals are often the primary source of daily nutrition received by our recipients. In addition, personal contact with our volunteers and staff drivers combats loneliness and can often provide opportunities for early intervention in life-threatening situations.  Last year, the program provided over 850,000 meals to senior residents of Bexar County.  To learn more about the organization, visit
