TWA members to pursue policy goals at Boots on the Ground

Texas Wildlife Association members will promote and pursue the organization's policy goals in Austin, Feb. 14-15, 2011, as part of TWA's second Boots on the Ground event.

The event takes place at the AT&T Center in Austin.  The February 14 schedule includes advocacy workshops from 3 - 5 p.m. and an evening reception, auction, and raffle from 5:30 - 8 p.m.  The February 15 schedule features a legislative breakfast from 7:30 - 9 a.m. and legislative visits at the Capitol from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

A  Boots on the Ground registration form is available.  Hotel information is contained on the registration form.  An auction donation form, as well as event sponsorship information, is also available.  TWA successfully hosted its first Boots on the Gound event in Austin in February 2010.

TWA Member Jacob Sands nominated for national conservation award

TWA Member Jacob Sands of the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center has been nominated as one of four finalists for the 2011 Budweiser Conservationist of the Year Award.

The winner receives $50,000 from Budweiser and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to be directed towards conservation.  Individuals can vote for Jacob as the 2011 Budweiser Conservationist of the Year by clicking here (voters must be 21 years of age or older).

Along with his family and the North Texas Municipal Water District, Jacob founded the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center, named after his late father, a recognized wetland conservationist in Texas. The Wetland Center is dedicated to passing on the family’s tradition of wildlife conservation.  

TWA presenting seminars at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, Jan. 29

The Texas Wildlife Association is proudly partnering with the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in presenting a full-day of education seminars on Saturday, January 29, 2011, in the West Arena.

The "Wildlife, Land & Livestock" program at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo features morning seminars on Land Stewardship and Management and afternoon seminars on Fire as a Management Tool. TWA members can receive two complimentary one-day grounds admission passes for Jan. 29 (rodeo performances not included) by completing and submitting the form contained in the information packet -- a $20 value! 

Candidates sought for TWA Membership and Office Administrator position

The Texas Wildlife Association is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Membership and Office Administrator.

The full-time staff position is based at the TWA headquarters office in San Antonio. An Employment Opportunity Announcement is available.
