Again this year, St Luke’s will offer daily email devotionals during Advent.  All members will receive the first devotional. Do you have a family member or friend who is in the Armed Forces and will not be home for Christmas? Send his/her name and address to Outreach Ministries so that we can send Christmas greetings from St. Luke’s.

Through December 5, Advent Dedications for Seasonal Decorations will be accepted.  Make your dedication in honor or in memory of loved ones. November 21:

  • First day for Angel Tree sign up; Be a “Santa’s Helper” and/or sponsor families in need by selecting a family on Sundays, November 21, 28, and December 5 in the Sanctuary hallway. Help at Breakfast with Santa at Misíon Milby on Saturday, December 11.   • Deck the Halls, Fellowship, cookies, and sounds of Christmas as we decorate the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

December 2, It's a Wonderful Life! A "live" radio broadcast of this holiday classic will be performed at 7 p.m. in the Rotunda Theater.

December 5:

  •  Celebrate The Gift of Christmas, Christmas is a time for singing…Along with a message from Dr. Tom Pace, this service will be filled with special music from the Encounter band joined by members of the Houston Symphony, and a powerful drum-line.  Join in celebrating the Gift of Christmas as we sing of some of your favorite Christmas carols at 8:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
  • March to the Manger, Children will bring one new, unwrapped toy to donate to Jingle Bell Express (CCSC). Twos-2nd grade classes will enjoy the live Nativity in the Children's Chapel. 9:45-10:45 a.m.
  • All Church Christmas Luncheon, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., music provided by BB Bamberg, singing with Rob Landes, a visit from Santa, Advent activities and crafts for all ages. Cost: $10/adult, $5/child or $40/immediate family
  • Lessons and Carols Service with members of St. Luke’s choirs from both campuses at
    7 p.m. at the Gethsemane Campus

November 18, Spirit of Adoption Support Group will have its monthly meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Children’s Chapel. Rev. Amy Bezecny will lead discussion of Simplicity Parenting by John Payne and Lisa Ross. November 19, Friday Night Dance featuring Jon Norman and "That Country Band," 7-10:30 p.m. $15 at the door includes a light supper. For reservations and information, please contact Mary Lynn Faulk.

November 26, Bless Friday, come for a covered dish lunch at the Gethsemane Campus and prepare “blessing bags” to be distributed to the homeless we meet on street corners. The gathering time will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations are appreciated. Contact Mireya Ottaviano.

November 29-December 2, St. Luke’s annual Book Fair, The Kingdom of Sweets and Stories, includes photos with Santa, an alumnae reception, live musical performances and the best selection of hand-picked children’s books in town in the Fellowship Hall. Hours of operation are:

November 29, 12- 2:30 p.m.
November 30, 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
December 1, 9 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
December 2 from 9 am – 4 pm. 

December 4, PM Pals celebrates Christmas with a special morning respite program for families with special needs children. Children come from 9 a.m.-1p.m. to allow parents time to prepare for the holidays. December 5, Life Together Class and Dinner led by Dr. Tom Pace is an opportunity to meet staff members and clergy and learn more about membership at St. Luke’s. December 6, the UMW Book Club will meet at The Egg and I (in Meyerland) for brunch at 10 a.m. to plan for the slate of books to read in 2011.

December 7, Contemplative Service, 6 p.m. in the Chapel

December 7, United Methodist Women’s Spiritual Growth Service is an Advent-centered worship service in the Chapel at 10:30 a.m. with a potluck brunch to follow in the Hines Baker Room.
