Author and poet Sandra Cisneros to give reading at Wittliff Collections
Texas State University

October, 2010

Sandra Cisneros, author of Mentor: A Memoir, will give a reading and book signing at the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University-San Marcos 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The reading will be held on the 7th floor of the Alkek Library on campus. Admission is free.

Cisneros is the recipient of numerous awards including the PEN Center West Award for Best Fiction and the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship. She is the author of the novels novels The House on Mango Street and Caramelo, the short story collection Woman Hollering Creek, and the poetry collections My Wicked Ways and Loose Woman. Cisneros is the founder of the Alfredo Cisneros del Moral Foundation, the Elvira Cisneros Award and the Macondo Foundation, all of which work on behalf of creative writers. She makes her home in San Antonio, where she is writer in residence at Our Lady of the Lake University.
