Did you know that… 

  • There has been a 190% increase in walk-in requests for emergency services or food at NAM in the first half of this year, as compared to the same period last year?
  • There has been a 68% increase in individuals receiving financial assistance (rent, utilities, shelter, food, transportation) from NAM in the first half of this year, as compared to the same period last year?
  • There has been a 30% increase in overall NAM services in the first half of this year, as compared to the same period last year?

Starting Sept. 1, all NAM visitors will sign in at the front desk and receive a visitors badge. This includes 50+ members and all volunteers. Your safety is our top concern!

Upcoming NAM Events

NAM Legislative Breakfast- Sept. 30

Save the date of Thu., 9-30 for NAM’s annual Legislative Breakfast. The event will be held from 7:30 - 9:30 a.m. at our main building at 15555 Kuykendahl. The event will begin with a continental breakfast reception, followed by the forum at 8 a.m. The forum will include a panel discussion on current legislative activity and its impact on NAM, the Northwest Harris County community and Houston as a whole. The program will be immediately followed by a tour of the NAM facility for those who are interested. 


The topics selected for the panel are: Children’s Healthcare, Hunger and SNAP, Payday Lending, and Human Trafficking.


Confirmed panelists include:  State Rep. Dwayne Bohac, City Council Member C.O. Bradford, State Rep. Ellen Cohen, State Rep. Gary Elkins, Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, State Rep. Allen Fletcher, Sheriff Adrian Garcia, State Rep. Ana Hernandez, Constable Ron Hickman, City Council Member Jarvis Johnson, State Rep. Debbie Riddle, State Rep. Senfronia Thompson, State Rep. Sylvester Turner, and State Rep. Armando Walle.

NAM Rotary Learning Center Classes


  • Financial Literacy classes, with the Women's Resource of Greater Houston, will be held on 9-14 and 9-28 at 6:30pm. These classes continue every other Tuesday until December. 
  • A Landlord Tenant Legal Seminar will be presented by the Houston Bar Association on 9-21at 6pm.
  • Job Seminars will be presented by Workforce Solutions on 9-9 and 9-23 from 1-3 pm.

NAM Family Violence Center Classes


NAM’s Family Violence Center is hosting free ongoing, six-week sessions on the impact of family violence. The sessions are held on Thursdays at 6-7:30 p.m. The next full session begins on 9-16. Certification is available for those who attend the entire six-week session. Community Events benefiting NAM- Sept. and Oct.

Shred Your Old Documents at NAM Resale!
A Community Shred Day will be held in the NAM Resale parking lot on FM 1960 on Sat., 9-25 from
7am-12noon. The document shredding is FREE, but we are suggesting a $10 minimum donation. 100% of funds donated will go to NAM. Everyone who brings their documents to be shredded will receive a certificate of destruction. This event is sponsored by: Shred Pro, Home Instead, Keller Williams Realty/Shirley Weber, The Conservatory Senior Living, and the Senior Resource Guide.


Carousel of Crafts
Cypress Creek Christian Church at

6823 Cypresswood Dr.
will hold its 20th annual Carousel of Crafts Bazaar on 10-1 and 10-2, from 9am-5pm. The event will feature home décor, stained glass, wood art, clothes, jewelry, candles, gourmet food, flowers, gifts and more. Proceeds benefit a number of area charities, including NAM. Style Show featuring NAM Resale fashions
Habitat for Humanity will host a fashion show fundraiser on 10-3 from 2–
5pm at Klein United Methodist Church. Tickets are $20. Featured fashions will be provided by NAM Resale and by the Cypress Assistance Ministries thrift store, and will be for sale. For more information about this event or being involved with the Women Build please contact Rachael Wright at 281- 820-2307 x 306 or


Mah Jongg Tournament at NAM’s Fifty Plus Center!
A Mah Jongg tournament will be held at Fifty Plus on 10-13, with proceeds benefiting NAM. Registration will start at 9:30 a.m., with play starting at 9:55 a.m. The National Mah Jongg card will be used. Saddle Up for NAM…the NAMpede is here! Over 20 painted horses and foals have been sponsored or sold thus far, bringing in over $135,000 for NAM! Vintage Park has graciously donated “stable” space and signage for the event. The space is located in Vintage Park between Mia Bella and Cheeburger Cheeburger. Buy raffle tickets for a chance at a “Grand Vacation”...Raffle tickets are now on sale! This year’s prize is 100,000 Marriott Rewards points that may be redeemed at any Marriott in the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii and at select locations in Europe. The Rewards are good for 2-5 nights, depending on the level and location of hotel chosen. Redemption is subject to hotel availability. Tickets are $20 each or six for $100.


Cowgirl Legends Luncheon and Style Showwill be held on 9-16 at Shirley Acres. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a social and silent auction. The program will begin at 11 a.m. and includes special live entertainment, style show, live auction, lunch, and tributes to honoree Kathy Stevens. Fashions will be provided by Cakewalk Style, Cavendar’s, and Scruples. Dana Tyson of Sunny 99.1 FM will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. The co-chairs are Irene Skor and Lauren Temple, and the honoree is Kathy Stevens.


Surprises include fantastic auction items like two first class Continental Airlines tickets and a Wine Dinner for 20 with Chef Paul Friedman of Peli Peli Restaurant. Luncheon honoree Kathy Stevens and her best friend Terri DeMontrond will join Chef Paul in his kitchen to prepare the special meal. Bids for this incredible dinner party in Peli Peli’s private dining room will start at $100 per person. Tickets to the luncheon are $50 and tables start at $500. 


Jeans & Jewels Gala…will be held 10-16 at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott. The event will begin at 6:30 pm with a cocktail hour and silent auction. The gala will feature dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions, live longhorn cows, and entertainment by country-western star Mark Chesnutt. The Gala honorees are Sandra and Eddie Harrell, and the co-chairs are Carol Cobb and Linda Fowler. Tickets to the gala are $175. Tables start at $1,750.
