For those of you who believe in arts and culture...Writer's Garret
Writer's Garrett

August, 2010

Dallas is just a heartbeat away
from becoming ART-BROKEN!

But you can help prevent it.

A city should be about its people, not just buildings and government. Currently,
the City of Dallas plans to drastically cut libraries, parks, culture, and the
arts--just to name a few--and in some cases, entirely cut off budgetary life-support
for many of our favorite places, groups, activities, artists, teachers, and pastimes,
threatening their ability to survive, much less thrive.

The Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex is the fastest growing urban center in the country.
We owe it to ourselves to keep our communities pulsing with reading, writing, creating,
and learning. Balancing a budget doesn't mean forgetting why we live here in the
first place.
If you believe that smart and creative people

can come up with smart and creative solutions, please
bring your hearts and minds to the Town Hall meeting
next Thursday, August 19, at 6:30 PM
at Winfrey Point [],
on White Rock Lake,
950 East Lawther Drive, Dallas, TX 75218.
Together, we can figure out how not to cut off our arts to spite our place.
