Toddler Tales
 (Early Childhood - 0-36 months)
Every Tuesday & Thursday 

2:00 p.m.
Toddler Tales is a story time especially for the toddler to preschool aged child and a parent or caregiver. FREE with museum admission.


Reading Adventures (Pre-K)
Every Wednesday
10:30 a.m.
Reading Adventures is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. The program strengthens language, listening and motor skills through story time, pretend dramatic play and multisensory activities. FREE with museum admission.      


Dots & Squiggles (Pre-K)
Every Friday

10:30 a.m.
Dots and Squiggles is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. Fun and engaging lessons encourage children to experience a wide variety of activities that incorporate art, sensory exploration, movement, music, story time, and dramatic play. FREE with museum admission.  


FETCH! (Pre-K – Elem) 
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Hands-on science experiments for all ages!

FREE with museum admission.


Art Studio  (Pre-K – Elem) 
Every Saturday * 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Every Third Wednesday * 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Art Studio is a fun, hands-on activity space where children and parents or caregivers can create art together. Lively and well equipped, the Art Studio provides opportunities for exploring self-expression led by artist-educators. FREE with museum admission.

August Art Studio Theme: Geometric Designs with Piet Mondrian: Using simple forms like straight lines and primary colors to create a cubist work of art.

The Arts Cart: Mexican Tin Art

Presented by ArtsTeach
Saturday, August 7

1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m.
Mexico’s tin art dates to the 1500’s. Children will have the opportunity to tap out a geometric motif and create a colorfully designed creation to take home.

Program Fee: $3 per child + museum admission.


Snake Farm Day!
Every Second Thursday
Get up close and personal with the creeping, crawling, slithering animals that make their home at the New Braunfels Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo!

Family Fun Day!

Presented by KLRN & San Antonio Children’s Museum

Before the kids head back to school, enjoy a family fun day at the Museum! There will be special appearances by Sesame Street’s Walkaround Bert and Ernie and fun, educational activities.

MacroLab: Reaction in Action

Chemical reactions happen all around us every day. Participate in and observe an awesome variety of chemical reactions in this messy, explosive and safe MacroLab.

Program fee: $3.00 per child + museum admission.


Storytime with Dora the Explorer

Saturday, August 14

2:00 p.m.

Dora the Explorer makes a special visit to the Museum for storytime before her appearance in the Nickelodeon and Broadway Across America Storytime Live! production at the Majestic Theatre, August 20 – 22.

Storytime is free with museum admission.

Limited seating. First come, first served.


Thursday, August 19
Kids are free between 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 
$1 parking between 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
(Houston St./Mid-City garage on the corner of Navarro and College St.)
Children must be accompanied by an adult. One adult may accompany up to four children.

Adult admission is $7.


Storytelling: Splat the Cat by Rob Scotton

This month’s reading, Splat the Cat, is a special back to school story about Splat’s first day at school and all the new things he learns.

Reading is FREE with museum admission.
