Joe's Run Breaks Records
With 2191 runners and a record amount of money raised to support Samaritan House programs, the 13th annual Joe's Run, our 5K/10K race held on March 27th, was one of the best Joe's Runs ever. Fine weather, supportive sponsors, great Magnolia Green food booths and enthusiastic volunteers helped everyone combine having a fun day and making a difference
Rose Lopez Joins Staff
On March 11, Rose Lopez joined the Samaritan House staff as leasing specialist. Besides greeting and assisting residents and visitors who come into the leasing office, Rose assists Property Manager Danielle Green and Facilities Manager Patrick Vickner with all aspects of the leasing process, from inspection of apartments and issuing work orders to intake and working with leasing paperwork. Her prior experience includes eight years at the Osteopathic Family Clinic, where she handled both front and back office, and a stint at the Fort Worth Housing Authority. Please stop and say hello to Rose if you are in the leasing office.
| Tour Our Campus  SamariTours in May are scheduled for 5:30 on the evening of the 11th and 11:45 a.m. on the 27th. These one-hour information sessions include life stories told by residents, a tour of the facilities, and an opportunity to ask questions about the agency's programs. Lunch is provided at the SamariTour on the 27th, catered by Z's Café. Visitors are often surprised to hear about positive life changes made possible by Samaritan House. Visitors often express amazement at how much we are able to do for our residents. Of course a great deal of the credit must go to our hard-working staff, but we do have a couple of secret weapons: collaboration with other community organizations and the efforts of our volunteers. In this issue you will discover how some of these cooperative ventures work, and what important roles volunteers play in making them a success. This is the only way we can stretch our budget to cover the cost of providing the most effective care possible for our residents.

Easter Bunny Visits Sam House
| Though they are not HIV-positive themselves, the children of Samaritan House clients are impacted by the disease in many ways. Through the efforts of volunteer groups and the dedication of Samaritan House staff, we are able to help these children create good memories.

| | The newest addition to LaunchPad, our comprehensive back-to-work program, is a literacy initiative aimed at helping adult residents improve their reading skills and eventually prepare for the GED exam. That's really what Samaritan House is all about: providing each resident with exactly the right combination of services to help him or her reach for the next level of independence. | Homes and Hope

It takes a lot of doing to provide housing and support services to more than 350 people, especially when you consider the effort involved in helping homeless or low-income individuals and families, many with serious medical conditions, move toward independence.

| Fort Worth has a proud tradition of civic responsibility. We have many fine organizations serving the needs of the community, and many individuals and families who give of their time and resources to help these organizations fulfill their missions. By cooperating with as many of these organizations as possible, and by providing a wide variety of volunteer and donor opportunities, Samaritan House is able to strengthen its own programs and those of other agencies. If you have ideas for ways we might join forces with other groups, or if you would like information about how you can make a difference as an individual, I'd be happy to speak with you.
