Foundation Fighting Blindness: San Antonio Walk Day Details
Denise Salzman

February, 2010

Hey gang… many of you who know my friend, Norm Slocum, who is now blind.  Last year I volunteered at the VisionWalk to help him.  This year, he cannot do the walk here in San Antonio because he and Peggy are ‘babysitting’ for their daughter in Arizona while she has her fourth daughter.  So, he asked if I would Co-captain his team, the Skip-A-Long (named by his granddaughter).  If you would consider walking with us, I have the information to sign up below.

If you cannot walk, there is an opportunity to donate.  Even a $5 donation, that will be awesome.  If you have any problems getting to the website, give me a buzz and I’ll help walk you through it.

The first link is general information about the walk which is
DATE:                                     Saturday, March 13, 2010
WALK BEGINS:                      10:00AM
LOCATION:                             Brackenridge Park
                                                3700 North St. Mary's Street
                                                San Antonio, TX  78209

The second link is to join our team the Skip-A-Long.  I have a second friend, B.F. Rippy, whose position at St. P.J.’s I assumed upon his retirement, who is also blind and is going to do the walk this year who has also given permission to get a group going in his honor.  We'd love to have your extended family walk with us.  Our goals are to have the largest team, the oldest walker, the youngest walker and the most fun!!!

When you Ctrl+click on the link below, it will bring up the following screen, select Join a Team

The following screen will appear.  In the 2nd box, type in skip and click on Search for a Team.  The 3rd box will appear below showing the Skip-A-Long team.  Click on Join to the right of the team name.

Complete the screens that follow.  This year our focus is to have a “show of force” to raise the awareness that there IS help available to those who need it.  Please do not feel compelled to contribute additional yourself.  If you do have others who are willing to support you in the walk, it is wonderful.  If you do not want to deal with trying to raise additional funds, please at least join us in the walk for awareness.  It is a 3.1-mile walk with food, face-painting, balloons, and other fun family things to do afterwards.

Mark your calendar!  The walk goes on rain or shine… I am looking forward to seeing you there!
