[Adoption Coalition of Texas] ACT E-News Flash - Additional Info about Backpack Drive
Press Release

August, 2009

Remember, all kids have a great family out there….we just have to find them!

From the desk of Tracy Eilers

Thanks to all who have responded about the The River 102.3 / Adoption Coalition of Texas / Wendy’s Back to School Drive ~ here is the additional information.

We are collecting backpacks on August 21 at the live remote at South Park Meadows – look for us in The Grover (near Office Depot). We’ll be there from 6am – 7pm.

On Saturday, August 22nd, we will begin the distribution at Austin’s Park. Doors will open at 10am and we’ll begin about 11am. We have limited space for this event so if you haven’t RSVP’s to Alexandra yet, please do so. We have 150 slots available that we hope to fill with mostly the foster children. The kids need to be in the foster care system now and either elementary, middle or high school age.

We are doing things a little different from last year in terms of our planning, so bare with us. I am sure we will have extra after this event as well, so once we meet our capacity on the event, we’ll keep your number to call you next week and let you know what else we have.

If you are with an agency, call and let us know how many you need. We will keep a running list and try to accommodate everyone.

You can reach Alexandra at 512-687-3208 or

She needs to know how many school age children will be attending (and their ages would also be helpful).

Tracy Eilers, DM

Executive Director
